Length: 495 words
Genre: Humor, Gen
Main Character(s)/Pairing(s): Kirk, McCoy

Why you should read it: "Red pills. Never again would Jim touch the red pills.

"I dreamt the Enterprise had been taken over by virus-carrying cats, and yellow pillows were the only way to stop them, and where the hell do you find a yellow pillow aboard a starship? Nowhere, Bones, nowhere."

"How can you be allergic to the goddamned red pills, Jim?" McCoy demanded, eyes on the tricorder readings he wasn't sure he could believe. "No one is allergic to the red pills."

"An illogical assessment, Doctor, as the Captain clearly is," Spock commented from the other side of the biobed, arms behind back and posture formal."

Genre: Schmoop
Main Character(s)/Pairing(s): Uhura, Spock
Summary: None provided
Why you should read it: "“Would you hold it against me if I was to so do something unorthodox, Sir?” she finally asks, and at that both brows raise in slight surprise, that was not what he had been expecting her to ask.

“No, of course not. In fact, I would encourage it from you,” he tells her with a firm nod. Of course, he’s thinking that she is talking about taking an unorthodox approach to her studies, or something of the sort."

Title: Survival
Author: fear3loathing
Rating: PG
Warnings: None
Length: ~4,000 words
Length: ~4,000 words
Genre: Schmoop, Slashish
Main Character(s)/Pairing(s): Hawkeye, Trapper, Frank
Summary: None provided
Why you should read it: "“Hey Trap, you gonna chew that gum all day?” you hiss under the drone of Henry's voice, and envy seethes from you like a kettle boiling – you'd whistle if it'd help.

“I was kinda plannin' on it,” he replies cheerfully, because he knows how much you want it. “Why, you wanna chew?”

“Oh do I ever,” you groan, and without thinking he closes his mouth over yours and pops it onto your tongue, thoughtlessly licking his lips after he pulls away. You let out a delighted murmur and masticate furiously, so it isn't until you've popped a bubble and realised it is the only sound in the room that you notice something is amiss. The entirety of the tent are staring at the two of you, and when you furrow your brows you honestly can't figure why.

“What?” you ask incredulously. “What?!”"

Why you should read it: "Clark opened his mouth to thunder at the demented sprite--and yelped. Not a normal yelp of alarm, either. No, it was distinctly a canine yelp. The bundle he was wrapped in came to rest on the ground and Clark scrambled out of it and looked down at his feet.

He saw large, black, furry paws.

Oh, no..."

"Damned right." Lois looked back at him, and felt a moment of warmth at his obvious acceptance of the shock she had just given him. Superman smiled back at her, and Lois frowned and asked, "Hey-I still don't know how you voted."

Superman raised an eyebrow. "I'll trade you-for how you figured out my secret."

Lois smirked, and shook her head sadly as she commented, "Smallville-guest lists at a funeral can let loose a lot of secrets. Which reminds me-care to explain why you invited Lex Luthor?"

You Know. . .
. . .while I'm always flattered by a rec, and approve heartily of the mission statement of this group, I feel compelled to point out that the interaction between Batman and Wonder Woman in "Mosaic" while hardly explicit or even R-rated, is definitely sexual in nature. Or at least I'd consider that two clearly--if not described in detail--naked people drinking champagne in a bed with silk sheets and discussing the aftermath of a sexual encounter would qualify as such under the stated guidelines. I'm not sure if the message here is "the story was so great that we'll overlook that" or "I don't remember any sex scene there!" :-)

In any event, nice to see a new rec list starting up--I'll definitely keep my eye on things here. (-:
